DESCRIPTION:

Born Free is a luxury holiday and weekender home in “The Golf and Trout Estate” situated in the art and craft village of Clarens, also known as the Jewel of the Free State.

Most people prefer to stay at the Clarens Golf and Trout Estate during winter time, when there are nightly snowfalls and the small streams, fountains, cascades and waterfalls freezes up. On the other hand autumn will impress you with a beautiful array of colours from the treetops to the hilltops.

Just three hours drive from Johannesburg Born Free offers an escape to peace, tranquility and breathtaking beauty. Each room in the house has an amazing view of the surrounding sandstone Rooiberg Mountains.

Self Catering Accommodation


Born Free offers accommodation for up to eight guests. It consist of one en-suite bedroom with a king size bed, three en-suite bedrooms with single beds that can be joined to form king size beds. All rooms have a 26 inch LCD Screen TV and a hairdryer.

The lounge has a built in fire place with a three and two seat leather suite plus one wingback chair. A four seat leather corner unit plus one wingback chair and an entertainment centre with a 40 inch LCD TV Screen, Blu Ray DVD player, audio sound system and hotel bouquet DSTV PVR/HD makes up the TV lounge.

The dining room has a built in braai and an eight seater dining room table. The kitchen with granite tops is equipped with a fridge / freezer combination, washing machine, dish washer, four plate glass-top stove, oven and microwave oven. A tumble dryer is in the double door lockup garage.
The house has under floor heating and all beds are fitted with quality goose down duvets to keep our guests warm in winter. It is also fully equipped and is serviced daily except Sundays.

• Titanic Rock – overlooking the entrance to Clarens
• Clarens Museum – at the information centre on the square
• The Ash River Outfall is one of the Highlands water scheme’s view points on the Bethlehem road about 8km from Clarens
• Mushroom Rock – on Clifton Farms about 3km on the Fouriesburg road
• Surrender Hill – a historic Anglo Boer War site about 10km on the Fouriesburg road
• Golden Gate National Park for walking and bird viewing – beautiful scenery
• Bushmen paintings on Schaapplaats farm and in Golden Gate

THINGS TO DO
Come and enjoy the art and crafts of Clarens and the variety of coffee shops and restaurants.
Clarens Golf and Trout Estate offers a country style 18-hole championship course with stylish clubhouse and a 360 degree view of the mountains. They are open on Mondays and visitors are welcome.

Some of the best trout fishing waters are in Clarens. The trout dams on the golf course have brown and rainbow trout.

OTHER ATTRACTIONS
Hiking, quad biking, horse riding, abseiling, bass or fly – fishing, clay pigeon shooting, wall climbing, 4x4 trails, three hour white water rafting, tennis, squash, bowls, swimming and air balloon trips.
