At Greensleeves you can enjoy our 3 star warm hospitality in a home away from home environment. Your hosts are Alet and Petrus. Equidistant from Durban, Johannesburg and Bloemfontein, this beautiful home is situated in spacious gardens. Situated at the foot of Plat berg in the peaceful town of Harrismith, we offer a safe, peaceful and luxurious midway stop between Johannesburg and Durban and also Bloemfontein.
Accommodation
Clean and spacious rooms are our trademarks. Our rooms are big and you do not feel you’re tucked in. With a remote control you can come and go like you wanted to. There is a private en suite bathroom, TV, fridge as well as tea and coffee. All rooms are heated, and have a secure lockup garage. Once you’re in the garage you do not have to walk out in the rain again. We also have one well-equipped flat for self-catering and there is a budget room for back packers. Relax in our beautiful garden once you’ve settled in.
We offer comfortable accommodation for long and short term stays at reasonable prices. Children and well behaved pets are welcome. Laundry can also be done on request.
Breakfast
Our delicious breakfast is optional. Prior arrangements can be made.
Activities and Attractions
There is a Spur and Spar nearby or make a booking at the lovely La-Moree in town.
There are lots to do in and around Harrismith. Fishing, hiking and skiing are all available at the nearby Sterkfontein Dam and surrounding areas. The Sterkfontein 23km running race is at the end of February. The Berg Marathon is held early in October every year. The Golden Gate area is nearby and also the climb to the Mount Aux Sources. The Plat Berg Mountain at the Botanical Gardens is also worth a visit - there is still an old Boer war blockhouse in the garden.
Harrismith has a rich, interesting history and beautiful historic buildings, all nesting in the shadow of the majestic Platberg Mountain. Harrismith is a beautiful town close to the Drakensberg Mountains, Golden Gate National Park, Royal Natal National Park, Sterkfontein Dam and the beautiful, artistic town of Clarens. Old Boer war battlefields and historical places are within easy reach for example Spionkop and Ladysmith and Voortrekker historical sites like Retiefklip. Wild game like eland, black wildebeest and Blesbok provide for great hunting opportunities in the area.
Harrismith has one of the oldest golf courses in the country and also offers a large swimming pool, gymnasium, squash courts and courts. It is ideal for cycling and running and host’s events like the annual Bergbohaai and mountain bike challenge. The annual Rhino Rally has been hosted successfully for the past three years by Harrismith
Quaint coffee shops, art and craft shops and interesting shopping nooks, as well as the beautiful botanical gardens are just some of the activities to keep one occupied here. For the more adventurous there are 4 x 4 trails, quad bike and mountain bike clubs available. |
