DESCRIPTION:
House Beautiful offers you a lovingly restored original sandstone house. The style is modern cottage with a Victorian country touch. Old and new are merged with sensitivity and originality. The interior designing is tasteful, attractive, refreshingly charming and memorable.
Accommodation
There are six en suite bedrooms and the establishment sleeps 22 people. Three of the bedrooms are in the main house and another 3 are situated in the annex. Each bedroom has a unique name: Calamus, Spikenard, Camphire, Myrrh, Frankincense and Saffron. The visitor will notice with delight and surprise what the meanings are! The sonstoep is named the Cinnamon Room, the dining / sitting room is named the Aloe Room and the conference hall is named the Pomegranate Room.
Double rooms with king size beds, family rooms, a dormitory with 4 bunker beds and even a wheelchair friendly room are available. We specialise in cleanliness and neatness.
Facilities
The open plan sitting / dining room has comfortable couches and TV. The breakfast "sonstoep" has panoramic views and indoor barbeque facilities. The modern, spacious, well equipped kitchen in the main house is used for self-catering purposes. Bed and breakfast are also offered (the breakfast cuisine is "farmstyle" and enticing to the taste buds). In the annex is a separate small kitchen for self-catering.
The outside walls are decorated with antique articles. The garden is lush and a burst of colour in summer. White Iceberg roses are a striking feature. Outdoor barbeque facilities are well planned and positioned. A lapa under a huge apricot tree has sandstone benches and is a favourite spot.
Various outdoor gathering spots are available. It includes a summer house, comfortable chairs on an open stoep and even a unique and antique metal bench for "lovers" exclusively.
Conferences
The sandstone hall (Pomegranate Room) is spacious enough for 36 seated people. Six tables can be put in any order to suit the requirements of the organisers.
The audio-visual equipment includes a pull down screen 1,8 metre wide, two large speakers mounted on the front wall (these speakers are mobile with long cables and can be moved around), sound mixer, amplifier, collar cordless microphone system and a ceiling projector. This projector has connecting cables for a laptop computer (two sizes) and also for a DVD player. The projector has a remote control and a laser pointer can also be provided.
The lighting of the hall is uniquely designed. Spot lights are attached to beams and can be dimmed in sections to either illuminate a speaker or darken the front section to improve the brightness of projected images. The hall has 4 wooden doors with glass panels and block out curtains keep the hall dark even during daytime.
Public toilets are available. If required 3 meals a day can be served in the "sonstoep" restaurant (Cinnamon Room). Packages for conferences can be arranged.
Weddings
Rosendal has a beautiful old sandstone church. It is available at a nominal fee to people of all denominations. House Beautiful can offer the sandstone hall for plus minus 48 people. The colourful garden, the summer house and the open veranda create the opportunity for an outdoor event.
The cuisine provided is in accordance with request. We do not have a liquor license presently but we are working on it. Public toilets and ample safe parking are available. In an atmosphere created by love, joy and peace a wedding can only be a delightful experience!
Attractions and Activities
Outdoor activities like 4x4 routes, tracks for quad biking, walking trails, bass fishing and horse riding are available in and around Rosendal and can be arranged by appointment.
House Beautiful is a place of peace and love and is like an oasis where a weary pilgrim will find rest for his body and soul. The tranquillity arises from peaceful sleep, the chirping of birds and the absence of traffic. It is the ideal weekend breakaway for busy and tired people. |
