DESCRIPTION:
Penny Lane is a quaint and cosy double storey self catering cottage in Clarens. Facing north for capturing maximum light and warmth, this home is reminiscent of the uncluttered and simple life that old established residents of Clarens have come to treasure so dearly. It is situated in what is known amongst locals as the ‘swartland’ of Clarens, and is surrounded by hills and mountains, Titanic Rock being the most significant feature.
Accommodation
The upper level of the house offers two comfortable bedrooms on a sprung wooden floor. An open plan loft area constitutes the one bedroom, with twin beds. The other upstairs bedroom is more private with a comfortable double bed.
The main bedroom of the house is on the lower level on the cottage, with wall to wall carpeting and a double bed. Good quality linen and towels are provided. The cosy lounge, dining area and kitchen are all open plan. The lounge has a jet master fire place for those cold winter evenings. Lovingly restored wooden furniture decorates both the lounge and dining areas. The kitchen is fully equipped for six people and includes a combination fridge/freezer, a microwave oven, as well as a four plate stove and oven, toaster, kettle and washing machine.
The cottage is fitted with one full slate-tiled bathroom, with bath, shower, basin and toilet. The bathroom is also fitted with an infrared heater.
To complete this lovely picture, the front door opens onto a covered slate patio where you can enjoy respite from the hottest days in summer. Winters are equally pleasant on the patio as the sun’s rays tilt a little lower for more warmth until they disappear behind the Rooiberg Mountains around Clarens. A braai area just next to the patio, is surrounded by natural sandstone benches.
An airy fully equipped open plan kitchen has the following:

Clarens
The Clarens town square, surrounded by its galleries and top quality restaurants, is literally a 15 minute walk around the corner and up the hill. The cottage is situated conveniently enough to be close to town without having to use one’s car, and yet far enough away to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the scenery Clarens has to offer.
Visitors to Clarens have a variety of activities to choose from and they include, white water rafting, horse riding, quad biking, hiking, tennis, squash, trout fishing, art courses, golf, abseiling, mountain trails and nature reserves which also have some bushman paintings. Enquiries for all these activities can be made at the local information centres in Clarens. |
