Bothaville:
The town lies on the banks of the Vals River where boating, fishing and swimming are popular. Game auctions (among the most important in the country) are held regularly on the farm Syfergat. The district produces maize in large quantities. Near Bothaville, the NAMPO Farm attracts more than 20 000 visitors every year. This is one of the largest private agricultural show centres in the world. The Maize Board has a permanent exhibition on various aspects of the maize industry at the farm.
Bultfontein:
Bultfontein was established in 1874 on one side of the farm Kameeldoorns, with Hoopstad on the other. The Sand-Vet irrigation system waters this farming district.
Christiana:
Gripped by diamond fever in the 1870s, Christiana is a popular stopover between the Reef and Cape Town. Offerings include hot mineral springs, a well-stocked game reserve and excellent angling opportunities. A point of interest at Stows Kopje nearby, are the prehistoric rock engravings which were declared a national monument.
Hoopstad:
In the heart of South Africa's richest maize producing district, Hoopstad is an important link to and from the Sandveld Nature Reserve, Bloemhof Dam, Welkom and the North West Province.
Wesselsbron:
Wesselsbron is a small maize farming town situated approximately 75 kilometres south of Bothaville. (250 km from Johannesburg and 150 km from Bloemfontein). 
Welkom:
Laid out in 1947, the attractive garden city of Welkom lies at the centre of the Free State Goldfields. An industrial giant, Welkom is one of the few cities in the world in which residential, mining and industrial areas blend harmoniously. Welkom has good shopping malls and restaurants, an airport and a thriving theatre. Almost all types of sport are catered for, including motor racing. The Goldfields Racetrack is the venue for national car racing championships. Visits to a gold mine can be arranged. Klippan Farm features a wide variety of animals and traditional Free State farming equipment.
